You really need to stop with that back in my day i sparred BLANK he was so good and i kicked his ass. Then he stopped coming to the gym, not because of me though. wink wink. I think you need to slow down with the posts wise old man and go out and train.

I'll make it short. Started at 14, i always got into tons of fights at school until i started boxing. I thought i was a tough guy and i was sure boxing would be easy since i was such a badass.

Joined a boxing gym, first time i sparred i got a serious reality check and realized i wasn't though at all. Fell in love with boxing. Had a couple of amateur fights, stuck with boxing until i was 19.

        Stopped for a few years.

Joined a mma gym for 2 years.

Went back to boxing only last year.

Still love the sport, but i'm 25 and i doubt i really want to compete. Always have the thought in my head but for now traning and sparring makes me happy enough.

        The end.

for me, its nothing too serious. I respect Boxing (and MMA) and love to train and spar a little. It keeps me fit and makes me feel good.

I never got my ass kicked and had been in 14 street fights, (big guys get tested more than smaller guys) every time someone would test me I learned very young to make an example out of that person. So I thought why not apply it to my favorite sport, the sport I always had the most respect for. Boxing...

I know alot of ppl here don't really know me or my background except j knows a lil bit but I felt like sharing it because this is really the only site I frequent here lately. I don't see alotta guys posting intros so here goes.

So I roll around downtown B.R. looking for the place I found in the phonebook. There was another gym, that was more expensive called Gladiators, and they had a good trainer named Frankie Caruso who is an olympian and has great amateur credentials. I just didn't wanna go because I felt more of an MMA vibe. And when I rolled by the place there was a bunch of guys in gis.... I was like **** this (no disrespect, I respect eastern martial arts to great extent. ChosonNinja on youtube has some badass videos look him up- plus theres a guy here that posts named 'j' that's given me alot of good advice on training and I'm pretty sure he's into some kind of martial art. Anyway, moving on..I finally found the place, after stopping and asking a guy where this gym was, and he replied, in a half drunk accent, 'hey whiteboy you dont need a boxin gym u can find a fight right here' lol, I rode out ...Never have been one to look for trouble, lol...Anyway, I finally found the place...the coach, an old black guy named DC, (who I later learned threw a chair at a judge in court lol) that had no front teeth, looked at me and told me to come back at 6, which was 3 hours later.

At first, it was a temporary thing, the boxing. In a month, I sparred the gyms best prospect...less than 6 months later he stopped coming around, it wasn't because of me though..I think it was his girlfriend, but I don't know for sure. But it's Baton Rouge. We are not known for producing great boxers. Clifford Etienne is our latest piece of work. He was a decent hw. Everyone rips on him, but Clifford was a good pro and I respect his work inside the ring. If I had started in say, San Antonio, I likely would've had to deal with much tougher opposition outta the gate. I kept sparring whoever they'd bring around, and never lost. I know they say nobody wins or loses in sparring. I disagree with that statement, unless two guys are 'just working' on a particular move or someone's wearing a body shield, etc etc. This chick I was dating starting doing ******* and ****, so I dumped her. But I loved her, and it really hurt me. I started drinking and quit boxing about two months after that. I am just now getting started again, this was two years ago. I've been working at a company that locates and constructs underground communication lines pretty much since I quit. I've stayed in shape, and maintained some kind of regimen for the last 3 months. But after I broke up with my ex gf, I was a mess. I was drinking 12-14 beers a day. a DAY. I blew up to 322 lbs. No ****. I went from 245 to 322. (6 ft 4in) About six months ago I made a decision to stop what I was doing, because I was becoming an alcoholic.

The one thing I was ever passionate about was boxing. I figured, since I never had been knocked out or even hurt in the ring, and beat up everyone I sparred with, it might be worth it to really take it seriously. Now I'm with a much, much less worldly girl. Also, she can't take my **** four times in a night, like my skank ex could. That's good for a fighter. At least, for me. I need testosterone to maintain a good training schedule. If I nut four times in a day, I feel more bumlike the next day. shrug...Busting one daily is fine, but I'd rather wait two days. My current gf is sore after a nice pounding, after that I can't even touch her for two days. Alright, alright..enough of that...lol..but my point is, now I feel like I got my hands up. My eggs are in a basket that I know, for sure, will never screw me over like my ex did with the drugs..She was a ****** when I met her, (felt the hymen break.) totally against all drugs, pot, pills, anything and everything and rarely even drinks. Never goes out, studying to be a teacher. So with her on my arm I'm thinking about seriously giving it another shot. But taking it real, real serious. I've been training my ass off lately, getting myself back into fighting condition. Because it's time for Kid Dynamite to make history...

They see it on TV and think that it's easy. This ain't karaoke. There is no bench, there are no trophies for participation. This is full-contact and if you're not in there doing it, you keep your mouth shut and take notes.

              Goddamn keyboard warriors.
Yes there is you will get at least a medal or a trophy at 90% of club shows. Damn amateur.

mine, i first got some fight with some ugly fat kid and his friends on an online game, i got pissed and went to their internshop where they play and asked one of his friend that talked **** to me online to fight me. He did not want fight and was making lots of excuse i asked him again and again and even his friends too in hte shop would not fight me. lol ****in internet *******. So i went home and logged in the game shouted in world chat they are all ******* and cowardly ****.
This was found out by their internet friend who was an internet tough guy in the game but with more balls than them and told me he would fight me. I said yes, so we set a date for the fight so i got into a gym train so at least i could know how to throw a punch, i trained for like 4 days and then i went back to that town and fought that ****er in a street boxing match with gloves no rounds or time i beat the **** out of him till he said, no mas no mas. lololol!!

Started kung fu at age 16 in 94 to stop my dad from beating on me.
Never really got to use it, he chilled out around that time and most of the guys I was supposed to street fight with in high school turned out to be cowards.

Fast forward to college and I started to get this complex that I couldn't use all this stuff I'd been training. Around 97, a fellow lifeguard at my pool humiliated me in slap boxing. Weren't many training options at the time. Went back to kung fu 98 to 2000 when i did a coop in Austin and it really didn't get better.

In 01, back at college, a dude showed up that was a pro sanda (chinese kickboxing) fighter from Taiwan. He was all about boxing and wrestling - didn't really push kicks much except maybe the side kick. He could fight with all his stuff, which was a total breath of fresh air. He basically re-introduced me to boxing (liked Leonard as a kid), his faves were Ali and DeLa Hoya. We only trained together a few months, but it was a total revolution for me.

In 02 I moved to Baltimore and did the kung fu thing again, with a Chinese school in DC that had a hard core rep. The fighting was only continuous, point sparring, medium contact BS so it left me wanting. One of the trainers had amateur boxing & pro kickboxing experience, so he was kinda training me on the side.

In 03 I made friends with a guy at a gym closer to my house that did sanda and boxing. I went to check it out and got hooked. I eventually gave up the kung fu school altogether because they didn't believe in "sport fighting" and haven't really gone back to traditional martial arts. I've been bouncing in and out of boxing, sanda, muay thai, and mma gyms ever since. Played a bit of Judo too and will probably do that full time when my kid gets a little older.

Lately, since my kid was born my training & diet have totally fallen off. Gained 20+ pounds in the last 2 months. Been drinking a lot of beer to take the edge off of the cries from a colicky baby. Picked up smoking again and been going out to eat a lot.

This week, we're starting a weight loss competition at work so I'm in the process of dropping the bad habits and trying to get back in the gym.
Today's the first official day and I managed to get out of bed real early, which is half the battle. So hopefully I can get myself out of this funk I've been in.

My wife says she prefers I come home late and be my normal, happy self, than come home right after work but be a miserable prick. Feels kinda wrong being at the gym all night when I got a kid at home though.

I'd been doing muay thai most of this year and got a bit burned out. In the next few months I'd like go back to boxing full time and work towards an amateur bout early next year. The next 8 weeks will be focused on weight loss, after that it'll be more fight-training.

dynamite, i never had any beef with you before. but until u acctually compete, u need to close your mouth a bit. u dont know what boxing is really like until u compete. sparring isnt the same, bigger gloves, not to mention the guy in there isnt trying to cripple u in front of a room full of ppl.
