Don't worry, Pavlik invested well into the booze industry.

Actually, I couldnt believe Bob's comment towards Floyd, he was more than gracious.

        Arum does surprise me sometimes.

He is a lying thieving cheating conman, and a very good one, but he does have a heart, and he does have an honest side to him.

Also, I believe Arum's version of events concerning this Pavlik issue.

Not a Bob fan, not by a long shot, but credit where it is due.
The last lying, cheating, thieving conman who made himself a relatively immense fortune was P.T. Barnum, but I don't recall that he ever made fortunes for his employees or associates. And he cheated EVERYBODY. And I believe that his memory is highly respected even to this day.

Actually, in all honesty and truth, if you are in a business which fascinates you, but in which lying, thieving, cheating and confidence trickstering are all normal behaviour, to be able to survive and keep the fillings still in your teeth, you must get down in the dirt as well, even as a matter of self protection.

Arum has kept boxing alive, he's discovered and made champions, he's made untold millions for his fighters, and he retains his self respect so that he can anonymously care for sick and those in need with no self advertising nor fanfare.

He does not deserve the curses and ill wishes which are constantly heaped on his head. The calls for his instant death or death from a lingering illness, etc.etc.

What sort of people do we associate ourselves with on these pages??

Pavlik wants sympathy and people to say how great he would have been if it wasn't for that demon rum. I say, if he goes out like this, he's a bum and I'll see him in the gutter.
Pavlik aside, you have hit on something in yout post, which brings back many memories to me. When I was growing up in Ireland, and studying law, I spent a lot of time around the courtrooms. where there was a wide variety of charges.

And it was astonishing the numbers of miscreants who "got-off" with the defence that "Well, the poor fellow had a drop or two too much and didn't realise the seriousness of the offence"....

Well, that all depends on whether you’re in the “lets follow Bob Arum around the world and actually give a flying one what he does” club or you just want to watch & discuss the fights, like the rest of us.

Being in the 2nd category myself, I have no trouble believing what LeadUppercut is saying. Dude’s got a point.

Pavlik will end up dead and broke and still be tattoed all over scrawny looking and depleted. this shell of a man is hollow inside with demons that need exorcised. sad but forget about this waste and concentrate on what is good about boxing and those who work hard struggling to survive. Pavlik is a bum.

Pavlik is a deeply disturbed mentally disturbed person with alcoholism issues and a tattoo problem coupled with the fact that he is not popular even in his own home town. Take away the beatings of a half brain dead jermain Taylor pavlik's career isn't much he hasn't really beaten anyone good and is just an average fighter with a below average trainer one of the worst trainers in boxing history in Jack Loew. Mental stability issues are looming for this offbalanced disturbed kid. Amy Winehouse had nothing on this mess of a person. Nice family support system in the trailer park for the Pav.

Bob Arum will tell the truth when it suits him, otherwise, he will say whatever he needs to say in order to convey the picture that he is attempting to paint at that particular moment in time.

Tomorrow, that picture could change completely, hence the.....

                  Your trust is badly misplaced.

Fair call, and good post, but primarily Bob Arum has made NOTHING, for NOBODY, unless it suited him to do so, and he profited accordingly.

He has killed dozens of top fights because it did not suit him financially, contrary to whether that decision affected clarification within a division or happened to be in the best interests of the sport.

Actually, I agree with you he probably doesnt deserve all of the criticism that is continually directed toward him, and he does have a heart and is extremely loyal to those who he cares for..... but we have all seen how Arum will turn on you IMMEDIATELY as soon as it suits him.

Mayweather was better than Ali, now hes a scared bum ?

Good guesswork, but my guess is that Arum is right, Pavlik needs to talk to somebody.

Somebody with insight needs to get inside his head, but I am not sure if a psychologist would be the best option?

You will all laugh, and you could all be correct, maybe I am wrong here.....
..... but Pavlik needs to spend time with someone like Bernard Hopkins.

                      Just MHO.

I learnt nearly as much about boxing, and waaaaay more about life, just by talking to and spending time with experienced fighters, as opposed to just sparring with them. Guys who have been there and done that, guys who are in the game and have a deep insight into how a fighter thinks, the problems that are inevitable, and how everything plays out.

Loew to Pavlik, is not what Cus was to Tyson.
