So are we next getting a thread called Prime Ali vs Prime Berbick? It would be equally lame.

Yeah, it's completely pointless and only serves to make the fans of the old fighter feel better. Of cource Liston, Ali, Tyson etc. wouldn't have lost to those guys at the end of their careers if they were still primed.

The only decent threads like this that could have been made are Marciano against prime Louis, Tyson against prime Holmes, Johnson vs prime Jeffries etc. These would actually make sense and be compelling.

I'm not taking anything away from Martin, a fine fighter that never got the breaks he deserved.

abdelfadeel, you've taken some hard punches for this thread, but every thread keeping the names of yesterday's warriors alive is a good thread to me. Leotis made it to the headlines. A lot more who also deserved it, never did. Kind of sad.

Listen gets underrated big time these days, theres an arguement to be made he was quite possibly over the age of 40 by the time he fought Ali(Cassius at the time).
Prime Liston was a real machine that could fight inside and outside with a stiff jab and some decent hooks/body work inside.
He used to beat up big George Foreman in training(albeit Foreman was a tad too young).
Prime Liston was the perfect fighter against crouching inside Joe Frazier, Rocky Marciano, Floyd Patterson(another guy who gets seriously underrated), Jack Dempsey, Mike Tyson style of fighting.
