Dude are you serious. Watch the fight and you would also know that Pernell Whaitaker won that fight clearly and he was a better fighter than Chavez on any level. Chavez losing to randall was an after thought, because in my book he lost to Taylor and Whitaker. To not have whitaker or Mayweather shows me one thing. You dont know **** about boxing. Hopkins and Mayweather were after Jones got dethroned and Pac, MAB and Morrales were'nt even in the picture. Hard to be the P4P when Morrales loses to MAB, PAC AND RHAEEM, MAB loses to PAC and Morales, PAC loses to Morrales and Marquez if we are being serious. So hate on Hopkins and Mayweather but they must be in this timeline also Mosley was close to the top also.

If Whitaker was such a better fighter than why with the weight advantage could he still not get a decision against Chavez when just a few months later Randall fighting Chavez at 140 was able to get one?

Barrera Morales and Pacquiao have accomplished more than Mayweather and to that point they also had accomplished more than Hopkins also(3 of Hopkins top 5 wins: Winky Pavlik and Tarver came after losing to Taylor).

I will start with Ali beating Foreman in 74

            Ali 74-78

            Duran 78-80

            Leonard 80-82

Spinks 82-87 very weak period not many top guys fighting each other and no one separates them self

            Leonard 87-89

            Chavez 89-94

            Jones 94-04

            Barrera/Pacquiao/Morales 04-07 (Morales comes off in 05)

            just Pacquiao 07-present
Well, well, this is a good thread idea, of course it's up for argument just when and who is the outstanding fighter at a given point. I don't mind your list, but I would change a bit here or there, your names are pretty solid, but I don't think the ground rules are perfect. Ali is no way #1 past '76',... I agree that Duran is next but he starts earlier in '76'..... and is slidly #1, until "no Mas", yes Ray is next and maybe Spinks but that stops the moment Tyson wins in '85',.... yes Tyson, not my favorite or anywhere near it, but you can't deny his spot,.... but I strip him of it around '87', just too many stiffs....... Pacquiao is DEFINITE, and so is your boy Jones, but Chavez is there for a while but Fenech and Nelson are right up there,... especially after Nelson wins fight 2 against Fenech........ You forgot Tszyu, he was my #1 for at least 2 years, but I'll get back to you on when exactly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The thing I like most about the thread is the actual concept is very good,... But mostly it is because there are 9 decades before 1975, and that's where I'll concentrate...... there are just so many previous greats to make a list on.... So I'm gonna try to make a rough list from 1892 to 1974,.... it will take a bit O' research, but that's what I do........... good thread,.... I really mean that.
