LAS VEGAS – Caleb Plant may have to temper his celebration should he emerge victorious on Saturday evening.

BoxingScene has confirmed that veteran ring official Harvey Dock will serve as the referee for Plant’s interim WBA super-middleweight title defense against Mexico’s Armando Resendiz. The three ringside judges assigned to the bout will be Max DeLuca, David Sutherland and Steve Weisfeld.

The scheduled 12-round secondary title fight will headline a PBC on Prime Video quadruple-header on Saturday evening from Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Plant, 23-2 (14 KOs), has fought just once with Dock as the referee, which came in his ninth-round knockout of Anthony Dirrell at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York in October 2022. The iconic post-fight celebration by Plant – mockingly shoving dirt on a fallen Dirrell to cap their contentious build-up – was interrupted by Dock, who discouraged the former IBF titlist’s in-ring behavior.

The three judges have plenty of experience with Plant and have also extensively worked with each other.

Saturday’s main event will mark the third time in 2025 alone where judges DeLuca – from New York by way of California – Sutherland, of Oklahoma, and New Jersey’s Weisfeld are assigned to the same contest. The trio worked together for Naoya Inoue’s eighth-round knockout of Ramon Cardenas on May 4 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. All three judges had Inoue – a four-division and reigning undisputed 122lbs champion – ahead 68-63 at the time of the stoppage.

DeLuca, Sutherland and Weisfeld were also in lockstep for Sebastian Fundora’s fourth-round knockout of Chordale Booker, also at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Fundora was ahead 30-27 on all three cards at the time of his knockout victory to retain his unified 154lbs titles.

Resendiz, 15-2 (11 KOs), has fought just once with any of the four officials assigned to his bouts. It came in his stoppage defeat by Elijah Garcia at T-Mobile Arena in September 2023. DeLuca (68-65 Garcia) was one of the three judges who had Resendiz trailing before the bout was stopped midway through the eighth round.

Plant has far more experience with DeLuca – three previous bouts – and Weisfeld, four previous bouts. In fact, Saturday will mark the fourth time in his past five fight when Plant will have Weisfeld as one of the three ringside officials, including his lone two career defeats.

Sutherland has never previously officiated a bout involving either boxer but is regularly tabbed for high-profile assignments in Las Vegas.

Dock will earn $3,100 for his role as the third man in the ring. The three judges will earn $2,300 apiece, regardless of whether the bout goes the distance.

Plant is a whopping -2500 favorite to prevail.
