Newly crowned EBU super middleweight champion Callum Simpson, 18-0 (13 KOs) has Frenchman Kevin Lele Sadjo, 25-0 (22 KOs) as an official challenger.
On its website, the EBU claims the fight is “in negotiations,” but it’s doubtful a Simpson vs Lele Sadjo will happen.
Simpson overcame two knockdowns on June 7 in Barnsley to come back and stop Italian challenger Ivan Zucco to win the title Lele Sadjo had relinquished in order to participate in an IBF eliminator, first against Christian Mbilli and then against Osleys Iglesias – but both fights fell through.
For the fight against Iglesias, Lele Sadjo had, as reported by Boxing Scene, orders from the IBF not to fight after May 6 but the Frenchman wanted to stay active and knocked out Habib Ahmed May 10 in Malabo in Equatorial Guinea.
The fight against Mbili was set for May 8 in Paris but Eye of the Tiger withdrew their fighter after a dispute over the purse.
