Three-weight and five-time world champion Yokasta Valle has signed a multi-contract extension with Golden Boy Promotions, it was announced today (September 5).
The Nicaraguan-born, Costa Rican-raised Valle, currently 31-3 (10), was last seen stopping Ramandeep Kaur inside two rounds in July. Prior to that, in March, she lost her IBF and WBO minimumweight belts in a unification clash against Seniesa Estrada.
She hopes now, with the backing of Golden Boy, that another run at a title will be possible in the near future.
“Signing this contract extension with Golden Boy Promotions is another dream come true,” she said. “To be able to continue to work with the best promotional company motivates me to become a world champion again, and to continue my path to becoming undisputed.
“With Oscar (De La Hoya) on my team, I know there are big fights out there for me. With Golden Boy’s platform, I know we can continue to grow women’s boxing, that women around the world can see me and be motivated by my story and that they may know that anything is possible.”
De La Hoya, meanwhile, said: “Yokasta has already had an incredible career as a world champion in multiple weight classes — and I strongly believe that she is just getting started.
“Yokasta knows that she will be a world champion once again, and everyone in the lighter weight divisions should consider themselves on notice.”
