Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington Jnr may already be making waves at featherweight, but his trainer Yoel Judah believes he still has a lot more to offer.
Brooklyn’s Carrington, 27, is scheduled to make a fourth ring outing this year against Dana Coolwell at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on November 15. The bout will take place on the undercard of the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul heavyweight clash.
Judah was full of praise for Carrington, whom he described as one of the best at 126.
“I think his timing, his speed, his defense and his confidence (make him impressive). That's it. He never runs, never will,” Judah said in an interview with Fight Hype TV.
Carrington, 13-0 (8 KOs), is going into the fight with Coolwell, 13-2 (8 KOs), on the back of a majority decision win over Sulaiman Segawa a month ago. Meanwhile, Coolwell is on a six-fight win streak following a 10-round split decision loss to Ender Luces two years ago.
Per the statistics, the fight promises to be a thriller but Judah is hopeful Carrington will come out on top.
“I don't really know Dana Coolwell,” Judah admitted. “I’ve never seen him fight. I don't know who he is. I know Shu Shu and if he stays the way he is, he's gonna win hands down.”
When asked if Carrington is ready to face the likes of WBA 126-pound champion Nick Ball, Judah said “I don't know right now. He's going out of spite. He's got it coming off, but he's right close to it. He's close to the guy in my opinion”.
