Middleweight Matthew Macklin (28-2, 19 KOs) is gutted after learning that Winky Wright (51-5-1, 25 KOs) withdrew from their scheduled fight with a hand injury. Wright, who hoped to return after a two year break, injured his right hand in training. The fight was going to take place on April 9th, as part of the pay-per-view undercard to Erik Morales-Marcos Maidana at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Macklin, the current EBU (European) middleweight champion, inked with Golden Boy Promotions to make a name for himself in the United States, but now his status on the show is unknown. Wright, 39-years-old, has not fought since April 2009, when he was dominated by Paul Williams.
