Deontay Wilder knows people don't respect the men he's beat so far.

That's why after he fights Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) for the WBC heavyweight title on Jan. 17, he doesn't want to hear it any longer.

"I don't want anyone to make excuses to me," Wilder said. "I don't want people to discredit me anymore ... the time has come to change that."

Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) has feasted on pedestrian fighters with the only remotely notable name he's beaten (in his prime) being Malik Scott. Nonetheless, he's supremely confident of taking the strap back to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, following his Showtime fight, and would rather not go the distance.

"I don't get paid for overtime so why go all the way, that's why I finish things early in the ring," Wilder said. "I have no doubt at the end of this fight my hand will be raised as the new heavyweight champion of the world."
