Robert Guerrero and Andre Berto both successfully made weight for Saturday's welterweight showdown at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California.
Both fighters came in under the 147 lb. welterweight limit during Friday's weigh-in at a local Dave & Busters. Guerrero (30-1-1, 18KO) clocked in at 146.4 lb for his second consecutive welterweight bout. Berto (28-1, 22KO) weighed 146.8 lb for what will be his first bout in 14 months.
Guerrero looked lean and mean while easily making weight. His slender frame makes it a mystery as to how he managed to make 126 lb. for the first several years of his career, though it perhaps explains why he has since frequently moved up in weight.
Berto was chiseled, sporting ripped abs and lean, perfectly-cut muscles. All eyes were on the former welterweight titlist, who was granted this fight only after clearing his name. The once-beaten Floridian was suspended earlier this year after testing positive for a banned substance during random drug testing for his eventually canceled rematch with Victor Ortiz, his lone conqueror.
Career-high paydays await both fighters. Berto will clear $1.625 million, while Guerrero hits seven-figures for the first time in his career in making an even $1 million.
Their bout headlines an HBO doubleheader (Saturday, 10PM ET). The co-feature is a super welterweight crossroads bout between unbeaten Keith Thurman and former welterweight titlist Carlos Quintana.
Thurman weighed 151.2 lb, with the trip to the scales coming on his 24th birthday. Quintana came in slightly heavier at 152 lb., still within the prescribed limit for their 10-round contest.
