The WBO has granted an extension for negotiations regarding their eliminator for the junior-welterweight title between Jack Catterall and Arnold Barboza Jnr.

Their promoters – Catterall is guided by Matchroom, and Barboza Jnr by Golden Boy Promotions – both requested the extension, which means that they will be given until 4pm on December 27 to agree terms before purse bids are ordered.

“Re: Barboza-Catterall 140lbs WBO elimination, Golden Boy and Matchroom jointly requested an extension for negotiations,” posted Gustavo Olivieri Esq, the president of the sanctioning body, on social media.

“The teams have until December 27 at 4pm (AST) to reach a deal or purse bids will be ordered.”

Catterall, 31, defeated Regis Prograis in October. The 33-year-old Barboza Jnr recorded victory over Jose Carlos Ramirez, in November.
