Anaheim, California - Hot lightweight prospect Ryan Garcia (20-0, 17 KOs) knocked Francisco Fonseca (25-3-2, 19 KOs) out cold with a single shot in the first round.
The stage is now set for a potential showdown with former world champion Jorge Linares for a date in July at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Linares had appeared in the undercard and destroyed Carlos Morales in four rounds.
Fonseca had previously been stopped by Gervonta Davis in eight and lost a decision to Tevin Farmer.
In his fight with Garcia, the unbeaten boxer threw a few punches and then landed a hard left hand counter that sent Fonseca crashing down on his back and he was gone. The referee quickly waved off the fight.
