Undefeated Jessie Vargas (23-0, 9 KOs) is returning to the junior welterweight division with a lot of confidence, as he challenges another fellow unbeaten, the "regular" junior welterweight world champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), the Russian Khabib Allakhverdiev (19-0, 9 KOs). Their match is going to take place on April 12th as part of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"I had a short campaign at welterweight. I took some hard punches at a higher weight and they didn't move me, and now I'm returning to my natural weight. I will be much stronger and have more power in my fists. And for the first time I think I'm fighting with an opponent who has less experience than me. I'm not overlooking that he's the champion, but I'm a better fighter than him. I'm younger, and that's what gives me the confidence to win," Vargas said.
