While the final participants are being added for the 'World Boxing Super Series' tournament, which is set to kick off in September and October, what hasn't been finalized is the television component.
Many fans in America have asked if the eight-man, single-elimination tournaments in the super middleweight and cruiserweight divisions will be broadcast in the States.
According to Richard Schaefer, who alongside Kalle Sauerland is staging these events - "We are in the process of working that out and there will be an announcement shortly but obviously it's going to be televised in the U.S. but I'm not at liberty to disclose who it will be with.
"All that is being led - the selling of the global TV rights - by Comosa, the company from Switzerland and they have retained one of the leading sports agencies, MP & Sillva, to assist them in selling the rights, globally and in the United States."
The cruiserweight bracket is especially strong with belt-holders like Oleksandr Usyk (WBO), Murat Gassiev (IBF), Yunier Dorticos (WBA) and Maries Briedis (WBC) in the mix, alongside ex-champions like Krysztof Wlodarczyk and Marco Huck who have also agreed to participate.
The 'draft gala' as they are calling it to determine the match-ups will be held on July 8th in Monaco at the Grimaldi Forum.
"At the beginning there were a lot of skeptics on whether it could be pulled off but to have a division, the cruiserweights, which always delivers exciting fights and to have all four world champions, basically to have out of the top ten list we have eight of them. And then two of the four are on the reserves so it's an unbelievable line-up and as Al Bernstein (of Showtime) tweeted out: it's the strongest line-up in the history of boxing tournaments. I agree with him," said Schaefer, proudly.
"So yes, there is interest and it's just a matter of finalizing everything."
