Dynamite-hitting former world cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli is ready to fulfil a promise to his late father and win the Lonsdale belt.
Mario passed away in January this year and despite Enzo winning the WBO world title, the one title he really wanted to see his son win was the prestigious British title.
And Big Mac is now looking to take the title from newly crowned British champion Shane McPhilbin on Friday 23rd March at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 456/Virgin Ch. 546).
Maccarinelli, 31, who has won his last two fights by knockout inside two rounds after losing his European title to Alexander Frenkel in 2010, says he's back to his big-hitting best.
"The main reason I took the fight against McPhilbin is because I want the British title. My father always wanted me to win it and I promised him I would one day, but it's such a shame that he won't be here to see it and enjoy it with me now," Said Maccarinelli.
"I've beaten two British champions before in Bruce Scott and Mark Hobson, but I've never fought for the belt that is described as the most beautiful and valuable in boxing,"
"Being world champion was fantastic, but I think that I will enjoy the moment more when I win the British title as it will mean so much to me, as it would have to my father."
Hucknall's McPhilbin pulled off a major upset in January when he defeated Leon Williams to claim the British title after being dropped in the first and sixth round before rallying back to stop him in the last round.
He added, "I commentated on the fight between McPhilbin and Williams for BoxNation and I was really impressed with McPhilbin's heart and desire. He showed great resilience in the fight after being floored to come back, turn it around and win and I admire him for that,"
"Of course, I respect him, he's a fighter and he'll be looking to keep hold of his title, but he hasn't boxed at my level before and I aim to take it from him,"
"I've had two good knockout wins back-to-back and I'm ready for McPhilbin and whatever he brings to the table."
Maccarinelli v McPhilbin will be televised live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 456/Virgin Ch. 546). Join at

TRUSCOTT CAN SHOOT FROM THE HIP
PAUL TRUSCOTT has vowed to prove he is not just a silver tongued slugger.
The Middlesbrough super-featherweight isn’t shy when it comes to boasting about his ability.
Truscott (18-2) is out to prove his fists can also talk when he challenges for Gary Buckland’s (24-2) British crown at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge Arena on Saturday March 24.
The former Commonwealth featherweight champion, 25, said: “Buckland is a top quality kid, but a quality kid against anybody apart from me.
“I can talk which a lot of fighters can’t do, and I can fight.
“I can box and I can make it boring, but at the end of the day I know what the fans want to watch and that’s excitement.
“But that doesn’t mean I’m going to go out there and be an idiot. I’m going to do what I’ve got to do to win and that’s to be the boss.
“It’s time to show my talent on the big stage.”
Sky Sports will be televising the card live and other fights include Richard Towers v Harold Sconiers, Sergey Rabchenko v Ronny Gable, Adam Etches v Stilian Kostov, Scott Jenkins v Adrian Fusezi, Mitch Buckland v Francis Maina. Carl Bell, Jason Cunningham and Jack Perry face selected opponents
Boxing starts at 6.15pm and the remaining few tickets are priced at £35 general admission, £55 floor seating, £75 ringside and £100 VIP Ringside. You can buy by calling The Hatton Box Office 01925 755 222, Ticketmaster 0844 847 2500, Ticketline 0844 888 9991, any boxer on the bill or online
