Beatles fan Ricky Burns is promising Nicky Cook a Hard Day's Night on July 16.

And the Scotsman plans to celebrate world title victory with a visit to Liverpool's world famous Cavern Club.

Burns takes on Cook in the third defence of his WBO World Super-Featherweight title, live on Sky Sports 1HD.

It will be his first world title fight south of the border, as he will travel to Liverpool's Echo Arena for the big showdown.

But Burns will feel right at home having grown up on the music of the Beatles.

";I love my music and I'm a massive fan Beatles fan," said the 27-year-old.

"I was just as excited at visiting the home of my heroes as I was about the Nicky Cook fight!

"I'll try and get to the Cavern after I've beaten Cook, even though the only band playing on July 16 is a Pink Floyd tribute act."

Burns-Cook headlines a massive fight card on Merseyside, with Tony Bellew's Commonwealth and Vacant British light-heavyweight title clash against Ovill McKenzie .

And Burns believes it will be a thrilling night.

"Outside of Glasgow, I think Liverpool is probably the best fight city in the country," said Burns.

"I've watched big fights there before, and the atmosphere in the crowd is always sensational.

"They appreciate a good fight wherever you come from, and they'll get a good fight between me and Nicky Cook.

"I think our styles are made for each other, and you could see a clash to rival my world title victory against Roman Martinez."

Tickets priced at £50, £80 and £100 are available on the Liverpool Echo Arena Box Office on 0844 8000 400 or

Nick ‘Bang Bang’ Blackwell is ready for the toughest night of his life in Wigan later this month – and plans another to celebrate winning the British middleweight championship.

Blackwell and St Helens powerhouse Martin Murray collide for the vacant belt at Wigan's Robin Park Arena on Saturday June 18 in what promises to be a  thriller.

Blackwell, 20, is convinced he will hand Commonwealth champ Murray his first loss and take the belt with him back to Trowbridge.

Trowbridge is a small town buried between fields and rivers of the Wiltshire countryside and Blackwell spends his spare time fishing and hunting for rabbits to help local farmers.

His idea of a good Saturday night is the stuff of television star Ray Mears.

“I go on survival weekends,” said Blackwell, “and there’s one planned for the week after the title fight.

“I don’t know where we’re going yet. I’ll just pack a knife and some flint in a ruck sack and my mate will drop us off in some deserted woods.

“You have to light a fire, find somewhere to sleep and catch your own food. I go hunting for rabbits, so I know what I’m doing. It’s great fun. I love to be outdoors doing something.”

Blackwell was a promising goalkeeper – he had trials with Cardiff City – before taking up boxing aged 16 after reading a newspaper advertisement.

“I hung around with a group of mates and I was always the quiet, shy one,” he remembered.

“There was always lots of banter flying around and I couldn’t deal with it.

“I tried to defend myself with my fists and had a lot of confrontations.

“I thought it would be good to be able to dish out a few smacks when I had to, so I went to the boxing gym. I didn’t realise how much I would enjoy it.”

Aged 18, he turned professional with PJ Rowson and in less than two years, the Black Country manager and promoter has steered Blackwell to a British-title chance.

Murray’s WBA inter-continental and Commonwealth belts will also be up for grabs in the triple title clash.

The bill also includes Olympic star Joe Murray. British lightweight champion Anthony Crolla also boxes when he faces a selected opponent with the vacant WBA inter-continental lightweight title on the line.

Prospects on the undercard include Adam Little, Dale Miles and Chris Male.

Tickets for this big night of title action are available £35, £55 (Ringside) and £75 VIP Ringside,   /0844 847 2500/ 01925 755222

Amateur Star William Cayzer To Pro-Debut On June 4th

This Saturday William Cayzer’s childhood dream will come true, as the eighteen year old from Eltham in South London is set to make his professional debut at the Olivia Goodwin Main Events promoted ‘Search & Destroy’ event at York Hall in London on June 4th.

An outstanding amateur, young William built an enviable reputation as a future prospect following his beating two of London’s top young stars, George Carman, who is now signed with promoter Frank Warren, and TKO Boxing Gym’s Brett O’Callaghan - who also features on the bill this Saturday.

William’s coach Steve Barrett has gone on record stating that William is not just one of London’s best new prospects but is also a certain future British Champion. High praise indeed coming from such a renowned and respected trainer as Steve, who is the Father and coach of former English Super Featherweight Champion and current International Masters Lightweight Champion Ryan Barrett, who headlines the Search & Destroy event.

Earlier today William took a little time to talk about his upcoming professional debut, “I believe it’s going to go all right. I’m just going to go out there and do what I do and hopefully I’ll bang him out.

As an amateur I always used to go out there and put on a good show. I was always a pro trapped in an amateurs body so yeah I’ve always been like a pro fighter. Every competition I’d gone in for I’d usually come out winning, sometimes second best but usually winning.

Since about the age of fourteen my style has been more suitable to the pros. It’s nonsense the amateur game these days, if your face don’t fit then you aint going nowhere. It’s more who you know than what you know.

I’m not a hundred percent who I’ll be fighting yet, there’s a list of fighters and we’re just waiting to have a little pick on who the opponent will be. I’m not fussed really, I don’t mind who it is, I’m going to win.”

William Cayzer versus Matt Seawright  will be part of the fifteen bout undercard supporting the Ryan Barrett - Geoffrey Munika International Masters lightweight Title fight at the Olivia Goodwin Main Events promoted ‘Search & Destroy’ event at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London on Saturday 4th June 2011.

Tickets, priced £35 (Standard seated) and £50 (Ringside) for the ‘Search and Destroy’ event are available on-line now at , in person at The TKO Boxing Gym, Gillian House, Stephenson Street, Canning Town, London E16 4SA or from any boxer appearing on the show.
