Travis Dickinson enhanced his reputation with victory in Prizefighter Light Heavyweights II on a thrilling night of action at London's Olympia.

Dickinson stopped wild card replacement Sam Couzens in the second round of the final to claim a £32,000 cheque and extend his professional record to 11-0.

The first round was a close affair as Couzens tried to spring a surprise by forcing the pace.

But Dickinson gradually assumed control and took over completely in the second round, putting Couzens on the floor with just over a minute of the round remaining.

Couzens regained his feet but his legs were still wobbling and referee Howard Foster waved off the contest.

Dickinson, from County Durham, had beaten Justin Jones and Llewellyn Davies on his way to the final.

Couzens owed his place in the final to a cut that meant Tony Dodson was unable to continue following his semi-final win over Menay Edwards.

Edwards, who had shocked Joe Smyth with a second-round stoppage in his quarter-final, was down in the first after Dodson got through with a clubbing right.

He beat the count and battled on, reopening the cut above Dodson's right eye that the Liverpool fighter suffered in his quarter-final win against Michael Banbula.

And the former British super-middleweight was cut again before finally stopping Edwards early in the third round, referee Howard Foster calling it off after the inexperienced Londoner went down for a second time.

Dickinson had seen off the other wild card replacement, Justin Jones, by unanimous decision in his semi-final, which was a one-sided affair.

Jones' chance came after Jack Morris suffered a suspected broken right hand during the opening bout of the tournament.

Morris sustained the injury during the opening round of his split decision success over Billy Slater.

The first knockdown of the evening occurred in the second fight although Davies quickly regained his feet after being surprised by short right from Dickinson in the first round.

Dickinson dominated throughout all nine minutes on the way to a unanimous decision.

The third quarter-final between Dodson and Banbula was more of a tear-up, Dodson pulling away in the final round to take a unanimous verdict.

Both fighters were cut during the first and Dodson, sporting a gash above his right eye, was examined by the doctor afterwards before being cleared to continue in the competition.

Edwards completed the semi-final line-up with an exciting victory over Smyth courtesy of a second-round stoppage.
