Scott Fitzgerald will return to the ring later this month.
The Preston man, a Commonwealth Games gold medallist, is set to make his comeback on a stadium show.
Fitzgerald, 24, will be looking to add to his perfect record to date as a professional when he features as part of the supporting cast to Tony Bellew’s vacant WBC cruiserweight title clash against Ilunga Makabu.
He will undoubtedly be planning to make it three early endings from three at Goodison Park on May 29 on the Sky Sports-televised bill.
The show, which is billed ‘Real Life Rocky Story’, will feature a whole host of prospects as well as some mouthwatering championship contests.
And ‘Fitzy’, who made his debut on the undercard of the big super bantamweight world title unification showdown between Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg back in February, stopping Ben Heap inside three rounds, before making it two from two with another stoppage in Liverpool last month against Robert Studzinski, will be hoping to put on a dazzling display and shine in front of the masses, with many thousands of people expected to attend what is being called a great event for the city of Liverpool.
Stephen Smith will be on the card, making a quick-fire return from his world title defeat last month.
‘Swifty’ lost to José Pedraza in a challenge for the IBF super featherweight world title at Foxwoods Casino on April 16 but will bounce straight back as he contests the vacant WBC Silver crown against an opponent to be named.
Elsewhere, Hosea Burton will defend his British light heavyweight title against Tony Dodson and two-time British lightweight title challenger Sean Dodd will fight Italy’s Pasquale Di Silvio for the vacant WBA Inter-Continental belt, while geographical rivals Kofi Yates, of Wythenshawe, and Liverpool’s Tom Farrell, will square-up in an eliminator for the British super lightweight title.
Sam Eggington will also return on the card after losing his British and Commonwealth welterweight titles to Bradley Skeete in March and there is action for Paul Economides and former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price as he fights for the first time in Liverpool in almost three years.
And local talents Steve Brogan, Craig Glover and James Metcalf will get the chance to show what they’re made of, alongside Ged Carroll, who impressed on his debut in the city last month.
