WBA World Championship Eliminator- June 8th - Undercard Stacked with Local Talent- White, Holmes & Moore
(Merrillville, IN)- Octavius James, CEO of One In A Million Inc., has announced a stacked undercard of local standouts stepping up the competition for the June 8th “Warriors” boxing event from The Hudson-Campbell Sports Center in Gary, IN.
Presented by One In A Million Inc. and Bob Arum’s Top Rank Incorporated in association with the City of Gary, “Solo Boxeo” will be televised live on Telefutura from 7-9 pm. to more than 42 US markets and 70 foreign countries.
Topping the undercard, Gary native and IN.B.A. State Welterweight Champion Jermaine “Too Sweet” White (15-2, 7 KOs) will face Derrick Campos (11-3, 8 KOs) of Topeka, KS in a 6-round light welterweight bout. Last September, Campos lost a controversial majority decision (38-36 twice and 37-37) to highly touted Jorge Paez Jr., son of the Mexican legend, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Since then, Campos has been on a 5-fight win streak.
Two undefeated middleweights fight for Indiana state bragging rights on the “Warriors” card when DeMotte’s Jimmy “The Fighting School Teacher” Holmes (15-0-2, 8 KOs) faces Travis “The Hitman” Loveless (10-0, 9 KOS) of Frankfort, IN. In addition to his 90% knock out ratio, Loveless brings an extensive amateur record to the ring.
Another Gary native, “Dangerous” Don Moore (11-0-1, 9 KOs) looks to impress his hometown fans against an opponent to be named next week. Moore, a super featherweight, returns to the ring after scoring a dramatic first round knock out over Pedro Flores on April 20th in Merrillville, IN.
In addition, undefeated Jimmy Campbell (9-0, 6 KOs) of Indianapolis faces Gene Newton (4-1, 1 KO) of Loganville, WI.
In the evening’s main event, NABF Champion Giovanni Segura (17-0-1, 13 KOs) faces former IBF minimum weight world champion Daniel Reyes (38-4-1, 30 KOs) of Cartagena, Colombia in a 12-round WBA light flyweight world championship eliminator.
In the co-main event, top welterweight prospect, Mike Alvarado (16-0, 10 KOs) faces veteran Francisco Campos (20-9-1, 11 KOs) and, making her television debut, Gary’s “Merciless” Mary McGee (9-0, 5 KOs) faces Eva Lidia Silva (4-7) of Ciudad Acuña, Mexico in a 6 round lightweight bout
