Norwalk, CT – The last fourteen months have been quite frustrating for middleweight contender “Marvelous” Tarvis Simms.
Since losing a close decision in October 09’ to title contender Allan Green on eight days notice, the Norwalk, CT native was victimized by the politics of boxing and spent far longer than he would have liked to as a spectator.
“I had guys ducking me,” said Simms. “Even though I am 39, fighters know that I am a serious threat and wanted nothing to do with me. At the end of the day, I suffered because I couldn’t get fights.”
This was until he made what he describes career saving move.
Simms recently signed an exclusive promotional agreement with Main Events and secured a spot on this Thursday’s highly anticipated fight card headlined by Tomasz Adamek at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
“I am thrilled to be working with a great promotional company in Main Events,” stated Simms, who owns an outstanding 25-1-1 professional record with 11 knockouts. “When I went to their office and saw photos of all the great fighters they have promoted it really inspired me. My goal is to become their next world champion.”
Standing in his way will be rugged veteran Willis “The Prophet” Lockett. The Maryland native has given many fighters a run for their money, knocking out world title challenger Larry Marks and drawing with rising contender Chuck Mussachio in addition to dropping many close decisions. Lockett will look to make Simms’ ring return a short one, but the former National Golden Gloves champion has worked far too hard to let a renowned spoiler ruin his comeback.
“I’ve trained extremely hard for this fight and feel fantastic.” “I am looking forward to Thursday evening at the Prudential Center and will show everybody that Tarvis Simms is a force to be reckoned with.”
Tickets priced at $53, $78, $103 and $253 (ringside) can be purchased at Prudential Center Box Office, by calling TicketMaster at 1-800-745-3000 or on prucenter.com
