Diamond champion Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27 KOs) doesn't see a fight taking place with WBC middleweight title holder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0, 31KOs). The WBC recently ordered Chavez to defend his title against Martinez. The two boxers have return dates already scheduled in 2012. Martinez will return on March 13 in New York's Madison Square Garden and Chavez has a date set for February 4th in Texas. krikya360.com reported on Monday that a mandatory purse bid has been set for January 6th, but Martinez doesn't feel confident about Chavez accepting.

"I haven't seen too much desire from him to fight me," Martinez said. "We've been doing everything possible so the two champions can fight together. We've been on it and I see nothing positive in sight. What happened is, [Chavez] knows that I'm superior to him. I'm better than Chavez. Facing me would not be good for his future and he knows it. The Garden is known as the mecca of boxing. It would be an honor to fight here. Chavez Jr. will not accept [the fight] and he will have to surrender the title, which I then plan to defend at Madison Square Garden in March of next year."
