Reebok Stadium, Bolton - Super bantamweight Scott Quigg (24-0, 17KOs) stopped Jamie Arthur (18-6, 4KOs) in the eight round.

Quigg, 23-years-old, looked rather ordinary in the first couple of rounds being unusually passive and not delivering any heat to the challenger, while Arthur used body punches and wise movement to get himself out of trouble and to keep Quigg at bay. The champion was slightly better in the third but in the fourth round all the hell broke loose for the Bury native - when Arthur put him down to the canvas with a short straight left hand. It was the first knockdown of Quigg's unblemished career. Scott stood up at the count of seven. Arthur, sensing the blood, moved in for the kill but Quigg used his power and his defense to survive.

Arthur was also much better in the fifth but the danger had already passed. The breaking point was reached later in the round, when Quigg landed several big bombs to rock Arthur. The fight was all in favor of Quigg after that. He looked very much upgraged at the end of the fifth and for most of the sixth. He changed his tactics and concentrated on single, hard right hands. They proved to be the key.

Round seven could have been scored 10-8 - for Quigg, who dominated Arthur. However, round eight started with the Scottsman being the more aggressive of the two. Suddenly, Quigg caught his opponent with a crisp left hook to the mid-section. Arthur immediately displayed a grimace of pain and spun around with his back completely turned to the champion. He was quickly pinned against the ropes, where referee Mark Green stepped in, rather prematurely, to stop the fight. Time was 0:35 of the eighth.

Featherweight prospect Joe Murray (12-0, 5KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over tough veteran Jose Luis Graterol (14-12, 5KOs). The referee scored it 80-72 for Murray. Afterwards, Murray called for a British title shot.

Super bantamweight contender Rendall Munroe (24-2, 10KOs) stopped Jose Saez in one round (21-13, 11KOs). Munroe wants to get a rematch with WBC champion Toshiaki Nishioka.

Cruiserweight Matty Askin (13-0, 9KOs) stopped Atilla Palko (12-2, 10KOs) in two rounds.
