As previously reported, David Price suffered a stunning knockout defeat against German heavyweight Erkan Teper in Ludwigsburg.
The Liverpool heavyweight was hoping to get his career back on track in only his second bout in 13 months, but his bid for the vacant European title was ended in violent fashion inside two rounds.
Teper was already having plenty of joy against Price when he connected with a massive left hook and sent the 32-year-old to the canvas.
Price appeared to be out cold before he landed and, looking dazed, had to be treated in the corner before eventually rising to congratulate the unbeaten Teper, who improved his record to 15-0 with a 10th knockout victory.
The defeat is the third of Price's professional career, the other two having come in a pair of knockout defeats by America's Tony Thompson in 2013.
"It is entirely up to him to choose if he carries on after this. If he does, then I have the beginnings of a plan to bring him back, the type of fights which with the right game plan can help him use his offensive power without getting so exposed defensively," Price's promoter Kalle Sauerland said.
