Frank Espinoza is best known for managing WBO featherweight titlist Oscar Valdez and recently dethroned WBO super bantamweight belt-holder Jessie Magdaleno, and also has a roster of up-and-coming prospects.

And the decision was made recently to change trainers for Emilio Sanchez and Raul Curiel.

Sanchez (15-1, 10 KO's), a 122-pounder who was recently stopped in two rounds by Eugene Lagos, will now be working with Joel Diaz. While Curiel (3-0, 2 KO's), a welterweight who represented Mexico in the 2016 Olympics, will be trained by Freddie Roach moving forward.

Both boxers had been under the guidance of Manuel Robles Jr.

"We want to thank Manny for all his hard work he put in with these two guys but we felt they needed a different atmosphere and some more hands on attention to moving forward," explained Espinoza, the head of the Espinoza Boxing Club.

"There are no hard feelings here but the kids wanted a change and we feel it's for the best."

Espinoza says as the fighters get acclimated to their new surroundings he will work with Golden Boy Promotions on securing their next fights.

IN OTHER NEWS: Ganigan Lopez has a mountain to climb to win back the WBC light flyweight Green and Gold belt, and is training throughout  rugged climes in the State of Mexico, before sunrise, in order to be ready for his trip to the land of The Rising Sun.

The highly anticipated rematch between Ganigan and champion Ken Shiro (12-0, 6 KOs) is slated for May 25th in Tokyo. Ganigan was crowned flyweight champion in March 2016, when he dethroned Yu Kimura in Kyoto. He successfully defended it, defeating Jonathan Taconing, but then lost it to Ken on  May 2nd.

The Japan quest especially motivates Ganigan (28-7, 17 KOs), because it was the origin of his greatest triumph.  He recalls: "Once I won the world title in Japan and I now have the confidence to repeat the feat and exact revenge against Shiro."
