WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) is still very interested in facing Carl Froch, according to the champion's head trainer Abel Sanchez.

Froch (33-2, 24KOs) has been inactive since his big rematch win in May 2014, when he knocked out George Groves before a crowd of 80,000 fans.

Earlier this year, there were serious negotiations to make a Golovkin-Froch showdown, and GGG was willing to meet Froch at the full super middleweight limit of 168-pounds.

After weeks of discussions, Froch announced his retirement from boxing in June 2014.

In a recent interview with krikya360.com, Froch's promoter - Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport - said Golovkin was likely the only opponent that Froch would consider fighting - if Nottingham star was motivated enough to return.

If at some point Froch decides to end his retirement, he has a high profile opponent ready and waiting.

"Carl Froch is a guy that we’ve always respected. Golovkin respects him tremendously for what he’s accomplished. I think the fact that he’s such a glow in England and filled up the Wembley Stadium when he fought George Groves, he still is somebody that Golovkin would love to fight because of that," Sanchez told .

"Golovkin is looking for the biggest names, the biggest fights, the biggest financial reward fights for him and Carl represents one of those. Whether it’s in England, whether it’s in New York or Las Vegas, I think that Golovkin is willing to go anywhere to fight Carl Froch."
