How does a scheduled 10-fight card, plus a world title bout, and two popular brothers boxing on a fight card sound to you, the boxing fan?

Pretty good, right? Almost makes one forget what would have been the main event between heavyweight contenders Chris Arreola and Bermane Stiverne.

While Arreola-Stiverne looks to be rescheduled to April 27th, Goossen Tutor will live by the adage that the show must still go on this Saturday night at the Hangar at the OC Fair in Costa Mesa, CA.

The world title bout between super featherweights Juan Carlos Salgado and Argenis Mendez will be televised live on HBO Latino.

Salgado-Mendez is a rematch of their 12 round war that occurred on September 10th, 2011 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Both fighters had their moments in the fight, with Mendez being deducted a point in the fifth round and Salgado doing enough despite being dropped in the final round.

Aside from Salgado (26-1-1, 16 KOs) fighting to a second round no contest against Miguel Beltran Jr. after the Mendez fight, both were victorious in their two bouts.

Ironically, both fighters have faced rugged Martin Honorio within the last year. In Mendez’s (20-2, 10s) most recent bout on July 21st, he won a 12 round unanimous decision. Salgado, from Mexico City, DF, Mexico, had a more difficult time, winning a closer-than-expected 12 round majority decision on April 28th. The two knockdowns Honorio suffered in the fight proved to be the difference.

With the fight being elevated to main event status, look for these two fighters to fight a crowd-pleasing style, considering Mendez will want to engage more and look for knockdowns.

This should not only be a competitive bout, but a thrilling bout that could feature a knockdown or two as well.

Also on the Goossen tutor card will be the return of two brothers, welterweights Javier and Oscar Molina in separate bouts.

In an attractive battle between once-beaten fighters, Javier Molina will fight Joseph Elegele in a scheduled eight round bout.

A loss by either fighter would be a major setback in their young careers. Both have beaten the less than modest opposition, but have suffered their only loss in fights they were favored to win.

Molina (12-1, 5 KOs), who was born in the Los Angeles suburb of Commerce, suffered an eight round decision loss to Artemio Reyes in October of 2011. Since then, he has won his last three bouts in a row.

Elegele (13-1, 10 KOs), from Melbourne, FL, lost an eight round technical decision to rugged boxer Aaron Martinez. In his last fight on June 2nd, Elegele won an eight round majority decision to Lanard Lane.

Oscar Molina (1-0) will face hard-hitting Willie Walton (4-6, 3 KOs) in a scheduled four round bout. Molina represented Mexico in the 2012 London Games.

Other notable bouts on the card include once-beaten light heavyweight Cornelius White fighting Otis Griffin (24-11-2, 10 KOs) in a scheduled 10 round bout.

Miguel “Micky” Roman (39-11, 29 KOs) will fight veteran trialhorse Miguel Munguia (29-24-1, 25 KOs) in a swing that could go six or eight rounds.

Tickets are priced at $100, $75, and $50 and could be purchased at the door. Doors open at 3:45PM, with first bell scheduled for 4:00PM local time.
