Russian boxing promoter Vlad Khrunov, who suddenly became famous for making the Oleg Maskaev heavyweight title fight happen in Moscow, is still looking to land some more big events in Russia.
Several media sources report that according to information given by Khrunov, former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson might include one of four Russian cities into his “World Tour”. The fight can be made in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar or Surgut, which is the famous oil and gas production center in Western Siberia.
Perhaps that information was released by Khrunov in order to interest some of the Russian investors, though Mike Tyson's appearance could draw a lot of public attention to the event and it's organizer.
I was told by the promoter during a recent phone call, that the next boxing show will take place on June 2 in Russia. Former heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe may appear on the show.
As for Mike Tyson, the youngest man ever to capture the heavyweight crown, he could have appeared in an exhibition bout on the undercard to Maskaev–Okhello on December 10, but decided not to take the fight due to his obligations to fight in China in less than 30 days. According to Khrunov the talks are still in progress.
