Former EBU super lightweight champion Ruben Nieto (18-1-1) has announced his retirement reveals Spanish website espabox.com.

Nieto had a very tough time last time out where he drew with Ernesto Espana and suffered a subdural hematoma afterwards - apparently this was the second time he suffered this type of injury and out concern for his health long-term and respect for his family he´s decided to retire.

Nieto won the EBU title late last year and defended it this year before relinquishing the title to concentrate on a shot at a bigger title.

Italian cruiser Pietro Aurino return to action tonight (Nov 18) in Latina after eight years out, partly due to a prison sentence. Aurino (38-3) face Elidon Gaba (8-2).

In his day the now 40-year old Aurino held the EBU title, challenged for the WBC title against Juan Carlos Gomez and was in the top in Europe for a number of years promoted by OPI 2000 (now OPI since 82).

Belgian Lansana Diallo went 25-18-4 in a long career that ended in 2007.  The mixed record can be explained by a tough beginning with many losses on the road then a fine final ten years that saw Diallo for instance defeat Rob Bleakely in front of 80,000 spectators in Conacry (Guinea) and took on Raymond Joval for the IBO world title.

Already as an active boxer Diallo began a career in politics and is now a deputy in the Belgian Parliament and is also still in boxing working with youngsters helping them from violent jihad giving them a new life.

Bulgarian Tervel Pulev makes his "real" pro debut on December 3 in Sofia but also fought as an AIBA pro in 2015 where he went 1-1 in two fights over eight three minute rounds. Pulev is the younger brother of current EBU champ Kubrat Pulev, who takes on Samuel Peter in the headliner of the Sofia show.
