Super middleweight prospect Rowan Campbell remained unbeaten late Friday night, defeating Yanga Phetani by unanimous decision at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, South Africa.

With the win, Campbell won a regional title belt.

Leading up to the fight, Campbell expressed his goal to local media of wanting to knock out Phetani. Campbell entered the fight having won his last two bouts by decision.

The older Phetani was game, but Campbell was the more-effective fighter when the two fighters exchanged combinations in the center of the ring.

Scores were 99-91, 98-92, and 98-93 for Campbell, who improves to 10-0, 6 knockouts. Friday night marked Campbell’s second fight of 2019.

Phetani, who resides in Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, drops to 14-3-1 1 NC, 4 KOs.

In a clash of junior middleweight prospects that reside in South Africa, Boyd Allen (4-0, 3 KOs) won by split-decision over Brandon Thysse.

One judge scored the bout 119-113 for Thysse, while the other two judges scored the bout 115-113 for Allen, who also won a regional title belt.

Thysse has now lost two of his last four bouts and drops to 10-2-1, 9 KOs.

Junior middleweight Roarke Knapp, who resides in nearby Edenvale, knocked out Wynand Mulder (4-8-1, 4 KOs) in the second round. The 21-year-old Knapp, who is 21 years of age, improves to 8-0-1, 7 KOs.

In another junior middleweight bout, 19-year-old Tristan Truter defeated Etienne van Niekerk (6-2, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision over four rounds. All three judges scored the bout 39-36 in favor of Truter, who improves to 6-1, 3 KOs.

In a clash of two fighters making their professional debuts, Aidan Quin stopped Thulani Mdluli in the second round.

Longtime promoter Rodney Berman promoted the card.
