Former Prizefighter champion Martin Rogan (14-3, 7KOs) is set to fight again following his fifth round stoppage defeat to Tyson Fury (18-0, 13KOs) on Saturday night at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast.

The 40 year-old, who looked on top for the opening two rounds, was eventually beaten to the floor twice by Fury and his trainer Bernardo Checa pulled the plug on his Irish title bid in the fifth round.

‘Big Rogie’ will not be settling back into retirement as he heads towards his 41st birthday though, despite the reverse, and has vowed to be back in the ring soon for his 18th professional fight.

“Whoever says he (Tyson Fury) can’t punch, my face will tell you different,” Rogan told The Irish Sun.

“He caught me on the front of the rib. I was OK for about a 10th of a second, then I was just on the deck.

“I’m a fighter - I’m going to come back out. But you have to trust your cornermen, if they made the wrong decision they made the wrong one. I stick by my team.”

Rogan has since begun a fued with Irish rugby star Stephen Ferris, who questioned Rogan almost failing to beat the count and subsequent stoppage, although a bout between the two is unlikely to happen.
