Robbie Davies Jr. will make a defence his title in the new year.

The Liverpool super-lightweight, who is currently undefeated, is set to return on December 10 at Wigan Athletic’s DW Stadium over the six-round distance.

But it has now been revealed, thanks to work by Boxing Scene’s Chris Glover along with a Facebook status from Alex Morrison, that Willie Limond will be the man in the opposite corner.

February is the tentative month in which the contest will take place –– and Limond confirmed to ‘Scene earlier this week that he would be making a return to the ring at around that time.

At this stage, we know no more than that the fight, for the 13-0 (9 KOs) prospect’s WBA Continental crown, was agreed on Friday and that it will likely take place in Liverpool.

Morrison, the manager of 37-year-old former British, Commonwealth and EU king Limond (39-5, 11 KOs), added on social media that Limond “is well capable of winning” the fight, with an eye –– should a victory happen –– to staging a world title fight in Glasgow.

Davies Jr. won the aforementioned fringe WBA belt against Jarkko Putkonen with a six-round stoppage back in March and made the first defence of it just over a month later against Xavier Luques Castillo.
