On Saturday night, welterweight contender Brandon Rios (33-2-1, 24 KOs) easily pounded former WBO light welterweight champion Mike Alvarado (34-3, 23 KOs) in three rounds before Alvarado's hometown crowd at the 1st Bank Center, in Broomfield, Colorado.
Rios, who looked to be in top shape, clinched his trilogy with Alvarado with a rapid assault from the first round. He overwhelmed Alvarado, landing 100 power shots in three one-sided rounds to force a doctor's stoppage before the start of the fourth.
"I still have a lot of gas in my tank and I'm not done yet. This is for all of the people out there, all of the f***ing reporters, the critics and everybody who was saying stupid sh*t, saying that I was a shot fighter and saying 'Brandon is no f***ing good no more and his good days are behind him.' You know what, this is what I have tell them - f*** you, learn your f***ing skills first motherf***ers. Learn boxing. Learn your f***ing boxing skills first. Learn what boxing is about before you say something. I showed you guys, keep doubting me because you make me stronger," Rios said in a video interview on krikya360.com.
