August 24: German SES opened the new season at the new Wolfgang-Lakenmacher-Halle in Magdeburg.

 

Cruiserweight Roman Fress (21-1) headlined and won the vacant WBC International title with a unanimous decision over fellow-German Yasin Basar (8-1).

 

On the undercard, in a six-rounder, world-ranked light heavy Michael Eifert (13-1) had his first fight since beating Jean Pascal almost 18 months ago and stopped Venezuelan Carlos Eduardo Jiminez (12-5) in the second round. 

 

Eifert is now trained by Dmitrijs Siholajs, who has also trained former cruiser king Mairis Briedis.

 

In the co-feature Marlon Dzemski (10-09) won the vacant German super welter title by stopping late sub Marco Martini (18-5) in the eighth round.

 

August 24: Kemi, Finland: Local hero and light heavyweight Henri Kekalainen (16-6) won his fifth straight win since coming back by knocking out Stepan Guba (2-1) from the Czech Republic in the second round.

 

August 24: Hockenheim, Germany: Female super bantam Melina Maibaum (11-0) won the vacant WBC International title by stopping late sub Kerstin Wiedermann (3-1) in the sixth round.

 

Wiedermann was about 3kg / 6 lbs over the weight limit and accepted the fight on a few days notice when Urvashi Singh (11-3) pulled out of the fight for reasons unknown and flew back to India.
