krikya360.com recently caught up with prominent boxing manager Vadim Kornilov whose stable of fighters include Ruslan Provodnikov, Viktor Postol, Denis Lebedev and many others.

In this Q&A, Kornilov gives us updates on Provodnikov, Postol and Egor Mekhontsev.

krikya360.com: What is the latest with Ruslan Provodnikov?  I read in an interview that you did recently that Ruslan may fight in Russia next.

Vadim Kornilov : Our priority is a rematch with Matthysse.  That fight will happen sooner or later.  It looks like Ruslan will most likely be fighting in Russia in the fall.  We are working together with Artie Pelullo and our Russian partners on putting a very big event together for Ruslan and some of our other fighters in Russia.

krikya360.com: Ruslan had a tough fight with Matthysse and I am sure he's resting now.  Is there a more specific time frame of when you would like to see him return to action?

Vadim Kornilov: Ruslan wants to be back in the ring as soon as possible and feels like the fight with Matthysse did not take anything away from him.. We want to give him a 6 months rest anyway so he can recuperate and bring him back around October or November..

krikya360.com: I know you want the Matthysse rematch but that doesn't seem very likely at the moment.  Who else would you like to see him face if the rematch doesn't pan out?

Vadim Kornilov:  We are open to fighting Brandon Rios any time. There was also mention of Humberto Soto which is also a great fight that can happen in the U.S. or anywhere.

krikya360.com As for Postol I read recently that Matthysse's manager is saying the fight may happen in September.  Is that the time frame you are looking at? Also where would you like to see that fight take place?

Vadim Kornilov:  We are currently working daily on making this fight possible.  The purse bid for the fight is scheduled for   July 17th .  We are working together with Golden boy, Elite Boxing, and Top Rank on making this fight happen.

So far we had to extend the purse bid and it seems like the purse bid might actually have to occur sooner or later if we don't come to an agreement soon.  We have great support from our partners in Russia as well as Ukrainian alcohol sponsors and there is a great chance that if we don't have an enticing commitment from a network in the U.S,. we will be able to put this fight up in Moscow which would be a great world title event with two great and very well known fighters.

krikya360.com: Las question, I know Egor Mekhontsev  recently fought.  When are you looking at him returning to action?

Vadim Kornilov: Egor just started training camp and per Top Rank will be back in action in the beginning of September in California or Nevada.
