Last Saturday night, World Boxing Council (WBC) super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand defended his crown for the second time with a twelve round majority decision over mandatory challenger Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico.
The fight headlined a big night as part of the HBO televised event, SuperFly 2, that promoter Tom Loeffler of 360 Promotions organized at The Forum of Inglewood, in Los Angeles, California.
Rungvisai was received as a hero in Thailand and upon his arrival at the airport, his mother, Nurat Wang-ek, was waiting for him with his favorite foods, which included succulent dishes such as grilled rat, fried pigeons and red ants with rice.
The Thai champion revealed that he was subjected to a very strict diet and had even to lose at least 2 pounds the night before weigh-in. So he was very happy to be received at the airport with his favorite delicacies.
Regarding the possibility of a second fight with Estrada, the champion said - "I can challenge a rematch whenever I want. I'll make him look worse and probably even knock him out," Rungvisai told The Nation in Thailand.
Also, on Tuesday it was reported that, according to "Nielsen Media Research," the battle between Rungvisai and Estrada attracted a maximum peak audience of 753,000 viewers and an average of 639,000 viewers, on HBO in the United States.
