The scores were 117-108, 118-107. 118-107 for Barrios.
A technical start between the two. In the second, both were throwing jabs with hooks being thrown off the punch. At the end of the round, Barrios scored a knockdown with a hard left jab.
Ugas came out firing with more urgency in the third, which allowed Barrios to start landing body shots in close. Ugas seemed to stagger Barrios with a hard shot to the body, before unloading with combinations to the head. Both found success with the jab in the fourth. Barrios was doing more damage with his jab before letting his hands go. Ugas was landing hard counters in the final minute.
In the fifth, it was close action with both having their moments. At the start of the sixth, a right hand sent Ugas stagging back, Ugas was able to come back with body shots. Barrios went back to boxing and was working off the jab. The right eye of Ugas was swelling up in the seventh, as they were getting more active with their punches.
Better work for Barrios in the eight, as Ugas was not being as active. More of the same in the ninth, with Barrios holding the edge with punches. The tenth saw the ringside doctor take a look at the right eye of Ugas, who was being outworked and outlanded.
At the start of the eleventh, Ugas' right eye was nearly swollen shut, and the ringside doctor took a second look at the eye. The fight resumed with Ugas being outworked and hurt at the end of the round. The doctor checked on Ugas' eye for a third time at the start of the twelfth and let the fight continue. Once it resumed, Barrios scored a second knockdown of the fight with a counter left. Ugas got up, was hurt, and was getting worked over by Barrios for the remainder of the round. Ugas also lost a point for spitting out his mouthpiece, twice.
