Five days ahead of the hotly anticipated Cruiserweight world championship fight between Marco Huck and Dmytro Kucher the final press conference almost turned sour at the city hall of Hannover, Germany - but only almost.
After not being a man of many words IBO-Title challenger Dmytro Kucher tried to grab Huck's title just as the world champion was about to take the stage. But of course the German was having none of it and got in the way. Immediately both coaches, managers as well as BDB President Thomas Pütz tried to intervene as glasses broke.
All of the sudden everyone froze: Marco Huck and his opponent decided to stage the mannequin challenge.
"This is the first time that I have ever done something like this, but it was a lot of fun", said a smirking Kucher.
Huck also enjoyed himself a lot. "I am always up for some fun. But on Saturday I am all business. I am a lion inside the ring."
Huck declared that he is going to make sure that the fight would be a spectacle. "Right from the get go this will be a fight which will light fireworks. That's what the fans want to see." But Huck was also very respectful. "He was very impressive in his last fight. He is a real strong Puncher who knows how to hit his opponents." Nevertheless the reigning champion is confident in his own abilities. "I have an iron will and love beating my opponents from pillar to post. The fans can brace themselves. Everyone knows that a KO is guaranteed in this fight. No one will have time to get a beer cause the end is near with every minute that passes."
Kucher however could not be baited into giving a prediction. "Training camp went really well. I am in great shape and I am looking forward to the fight on Saturday. Obviously I want to win but I don't care about how I do it." Even when asked about his power he did not want to give away too much. "I don't comment on myself, other people can do that."
Promoter Kenan Huki? said that 5.000 tickets have been sold for the TUI Arena so far. Wladimir Klitschko will also be ringside with Jimmy Lennon Jr. as the announcer of the night.
