Liverpool - In a junior welterweight clash, Jack Catterall (28-1, 13 KOs) easily boxed past former world champion Jorge Linares (47-9, 29 KOs) over twelve rounds of action.
The scores were 117-111, 116-112, and 116-112.
Linares entered the ring on the back of a three fight losing streak, with fights dropped to Devin Haney, Zaur Abdullaev and Zhora Hamazaryan.
The last time Linares saw action at 140, he was demolished in one round by Pablo Cesar Cano.
The first round was a technical, give and take, three minutes. In the second, a clash of heads produced a cut on Linares. At the end of the fifth, a left hand rocked Linares. Catterall jumped on him, but was unable to get the finish. Catterall continued to box until rocking Linares again with a series of punches at the end of the eight.
The remainder of the fight saw Catterall outbox Linares until the final bell.
