GUAYNABO, PUERTO RICO – A month away from his revenge against WBO junior flyweight champion Giovani Segura, former champion Ivan "Iron Boy" Calderon is training hard and weighed in at 116.5 pounds today during a 30 day pre weigh in of the Puerto Rico Boxing Comision. Photos by Jose Perez/PRBBP
Calderón (34-1-1, 6 KOs) and Segura (26-1-1, 22 KOs) will fight on April 2 in the Estadio 20 de noviembre in Campeche, Mexico, in a rematch of their first bout from August 28, 2010, which was won Segura by TKO. The fight was a candidate for the Fight of the Year award. During the pre weigh in Calderon could have made a maximum of 124.2 pounds, but the former 105 and 108 pounds champion weighed in at 116.5
“I'm always near from my weight for the fights, but I'm training very hard for Segura and working on some new and old things. I'm working now for more strength for Segura and his weight on the bout", Calderon said from the Wilfredo Gomez Arena Gym in Guaynabo.
