Photos: David Benavidez Crushes Demetrius Andrade in Six Rounds

Pursuant to a recent WBC order, Benavidez is now the mandatory challenger to undisputed champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

Both had moments of success in the first round. Benavidez was jabbing to the body and pressing. Andrade closed the round with a combination of shots. Andrade started fast in the second, coming forward with combinations and fast punches. Andrade was unloading with fast combinations.

In the third, Andrade was moving and the ring and landing very fast punches on Benavidez. As the round played out, Benavidez began to take over with his power shots. The fourth saw, Benavidez begin to really press Andrade as they were exchanging solid punches. Benavidez was landing the bigger and more damaging shots to the head and body. At the end of the round, a good hook put Andrade down. 

Benavidez came out pressing and punishing Andrade in the fifth round. Andrade was on unsteady legs as Benavidez continued to stalk him with heavy punches. Andrade was barely staying on his feet as the damaging punches continued to rain down. In the sixth round, Benavidez continued to batter Andrade with big punches to the head and body. Andrade was not able to keep Benavidez away. At the end of the round, Benavidez once again had Andrade in very serious trouble. Once the round concluded, the fight was stopped by Andrade's corner.
