MGM Grand, Las Vegas - In an IBF eliminator, former heavyweight world champion Charles Martin (28-2-1, 25 KOs) knocked out Gerald Washington (20-4-1, 13 KOs) in the sixth round.
Martin was doing more work than Washington in the first two rounds. The action was going at a slow pace, with both boxing. Martin was doing most of the work and landing most of the punches. Washington was not doing much in return.
In the sixth, Martin landed a big right hand that sent Washington down hard. He was able to beat the count, but he was hurt and the fight was waved off.
