SSE Arena, Wembley - WBO super middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (30-0, 14KOs) dominated veteran Martin Murray (39-6-1, 17 KOs) to a wide twelve round unanimous decision win.
The scores were 120-109, 120-109, 118-110.
They were scheduled to fight each other in 2018, with the contest being postponed twice.
It was a calculated boxing match, with Saunders just doing the basics with his jab and boxing ability. Murray was not doing that much in the early going, looking for openings.
Saunders seemed to rattle Murray with a few punches at the end of the fourth, which nearly banked him a knockdown. As the fight played out, Murray was looking every bit of his age. He looked slower than usual and was being easily outworked.
Murray was getting frustrated by the style of Saunders at the mid-way point. Murray took some big shots in the eight, but continued to come forward in what was become a fight filled with rough tactics. Saunders continued to land solid punches in the ninth, with Murray not doing much in return. In the tenth, Saunders was battering Murray around the ring with hard shots.
During the eleventh, it was target practice for Murray, who was taking punishment. And the one way action continued in the twelfth and final round.
