Tom Farrell will fight for a title next month.
The super-lightweight will challenge for the Commonwealth title on March 30 at the M&S Bank Arena.
Farrell, who will have a six-round warm-up fight on February 23 at the Devonshire House Hotel, exclusively live on VIP Boxing TV, is set to meet Philip Bowes, exclusively live on Sky Sports.
The fight, also exclusively live on DAZN Stateside, will form part of the supporting cast to Liam Smith’s Matchroom Boxing debut against Sam Eggington.
“We’ve had our eyes on the Commonwealth title for a few weeks now as we knew Philip Bowes was going to be fighting for it,” said Farrell, who was last in title action back in September 2017 when he was stopped by Ohara Davies at the same venue. “When we saw him win it in good fashion, we thought it’d be the perfect fight for us and I’m buzzing to get in there on March 30.”
Bowes, trained by Darren Hamilton and Leon McKenzie, stopped Tanzanian Benson Nyilawila in two rounds to win the belt at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, last Saturday.
And Farrell knows this is a golden chance to get back into the mix in the division that is laden with talent locally, domestically and internationally.
“He’s going to be full of confidence, coming in off the back of a good win and I think it will be an exciting fight for the fans,” ‘Fazza’ added. “I’ll probably be on early so it should be a strong start to the night.
“My loss to Ohara Davies was a bad night at the office for me. People that are close to me know what went wrong on that night and I’ve never made any excuses. I know that I wasn’t myself but I’ve had a good phase of rebuilding over the past year.
“I’ve got a fight in a couple of weeks just to get my sharpness back, I’m already feeling fit so it’s great that Liverpool show is another eight weeks off. I’m going to be in great shape come fight night.”
Farrell’s clash with Bowes is flanked on the Smith vs. Eggington card by Robbie Davies Jr.’s British and European super-lightweight title unification against Joe Hughes, while Craig Glover will be in action in the cruiserweight division and super-welterweight rivals Anthony Fowler and Scott Fitzgerald meet in a tasty clash.
Natasha Jonas looks to return to winning ways after suffering her maiden defeat as a pro back in August and there is action for Ged Carroll, debutant Tom Hart and heavyweight David Price as he looks to build on his fourth-round stoppage victory over Tom Little at London’s O2 Arena last December.
