WBA/IBF junior welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (30-1, 15KOs) called it "an honor" to be mentioned as a possible opponent for WBO welterweight king Manny Pacquiao. Peterson recently pulled off the biggest victory of his career, when he came from behind to win a twelve round split decision over Amir Khan to capture his two current titles.

Khan, and his promoters Golden Boy Promotions, have filed appeals with the IBF and WBA to get the Peterson result overturned. At the very least, Khan and Golden Boy want the sanctioning bodies to order an immediate rematch. A hearing is scheduled for January.

Peterson is enjoying the holidays with his family and doesn't give any merit to the appeals. He doesn't expect any of them to succeed.

"Right now I have some options and every week there are more options for me. [I'm looking for] whatever makes the most money, but also what makes the most sense. We are thinking about everything right now and we have to make the right choice," Peterson said to Brad Cooney of 8CountNews.

"[Khan] and Golden Boy will do whatever they can do to get those belts back. It's not good for him or for them to not have those belts. Those protest or appeals, or whatever they are going to do, I don't think any of them are going to hold up. All you have to do is watch the tape and see that I won the fight.....Let them cry."
