Uniondale, New York - In a crossroads fight at 168-pounds, former middleweight champion Peter Quillin (34-1-1, 23 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over J'Leon Love (24-2-1, 13 KOs). The scores 99-91, 98-92, 98-92.

Quillin has been trying to rebuild his career in the last few years. He was regarded as one of the top fighters at 160-pounds and then suffered a first round TKO defeat at the hands of Daniel Jacobs in December of 2015.

He took off for nearly two years, returning as a super middleweight and winning an eight round unanimous decision over Dashon Johnson in September of 2017. He briefly worked with trainer Virgil Hunter and then broke away to train back on the East Coast.

Love has gone unbeaten in his last seven fights after suffering a third round knockout loss at the hands of Rogelio Medina in August of 2014.

They felt each other out in the first round, with neither man doing much. Quillin began to punch a bit more in the second round.  Love was countering well, as they were both having their moments.

Quillin continued to throw even more punches, applying more pressure and talking trash in the third. In the fourth and fifth, Love was really on his toes. He was moving around the ring, but he wasn't throwing a lot of punches at all.

In the eight round, Quillin trapped Love against the ropes and really let his hands go. He was whacking away on Love with huge punches, which forced Love to hold on. Quillin was trying to maul him on the ropes at this point. Love was getting wild with his counters, prompting two warnings for hitting on the break.

Love was doing better in the ninth by coming forward. Love was far behind on the cards and not doing enough to turn the tide. The tenth and final round saw Quillin stalking and applying pressure on Love, who was doing his best to stay away and avoid the big shots.
