IBF junior lightweight champion Jose "Sniper" Pedraza (21-0, 12KOs) has no problem having a rematch with Edner Cherry (34-7-2, 19KOs).

Pedraza gained what some saw as a controversial twelve round split decision win over Cherry earlier this month in a Showtime televised bout.

One judge scored it 116-112 for Cherry and the remaining two saw it 117-111 for Pedraza.

Even if Pedraza wanted to do an immediate rematch, he is required to make a mandatory defense against Stephen Smith (23-1, 13KOs) of the UK.

"If (Cherry) believes he won, that's fine. It was a tough fight, but one better than [Cherry] knows I won that fight," said Pedraza to Carlos Gonzalez.

After the mandatory fight, Pedraza may very well move up in weight to 135-pounds. He admits to struggling to get down to 130-pounds for the bout with Cherry.

"A rematch could be provided, but he has to wait. In January I will have a fight against the  mandatory challenger and also for the following year my weight is under evaluation. I do not have exact date, but January was discussed. I would love for it to be in Puerto Rico," Pedraza said.
