Montreal – InterBox is proud to announce that WBC Diamond title belt holder Jean Pascal (29-2-1, 17 KO) from Canada has signed on to face current IBO Super Middleweight champion Donovan George (26-4-2, 22 KO) from the USA. The two champions will lock horns on December 6th at the Montreal Bell Centre. This bout will mark the first of a multi-fight agreement reached between Jean Pascal, Jean Pascal Promotions and InterBox.
This bout will be combined with the Lucian Bute vs. Roberto Bolonti bout to offer local and international boxing fans a very interesting double feature on December 6th at the Bell Centre.
« Two big fights such as Bute vs. Bolonti and Pascal vs. George on the same card is a very rare occurrence in Quebec » states InterBox president Mr. Jean Bedard.
GYM and InterBox : A joint decision to sign Pascal
InterBox and Groupe Yvon Michel together decided that Jean Pascal’s contract be signed with InterBox. However, GYM and InterBox conserve their co-promotion agreement for the organization of events.
« We are working together with GYM for the benefit of the boxing industry and this decision with Pascal is just another positive example » added Jean Bedard.
Pascal vs. George : A fan-friendly fight
December 6th will mark the first time the Haitian born Canadian fights twice in a year since 2010. The bout vs. Donovan George will be the first of a series of high profile fights for Pascal, thanks to a multi-bout agreement Pascal just concluded with InterBox.
« I am very happy to be fighting George. He took Adonis Stevenson to the 12th round and I plan to do better so that fight fans can use this as a measuring stick for an eventual fight between Stevenson and I » states Jean Pascal, WBC Light Heavyweight mandatory contender to Stevenson’s title.
Pascal, who soon will celebrate his 10th year as a pro boxer, has won a multitude of titles throughout his impressive career since his debut on February 3rd 2005. Pascal went 12 thrilling rounds for the WBC 168 pound belt with a young Carl Froch in England, losing the bout via decision but winning fight of the year honors in Britain for his efforts. Pascal followed this loss by moving up to Light Heavyweight and dethroning WBC champion Adrian Diaconu in 2009. After beating Diaconu a second time, Pascal shocked the boxing world by beating then undefeated and pound-for-pound rated Chad Dawson, before fighting a thrilling 24 rounds with boxing legend Bernard Hopkins.
Donovan George is no stranger to Quebec. The Chicago native won over the hearts of all boxing fans by holding strong for 11 rounds vs. Adonis « Superman » Stevenson (24-1-0, 20 KO) before losing the fight in the 12th round. Nicknamed « Da Bomb », Donovan has been in several high profile boxing wars and is the current IBO World Super Middleweight champion thanks to his win vs. Dyah Davis (22-5-1, 10 KO) via UD last August.
« I am coming to win and to to shock Quebec. I jumped on the fight vs. Pascal the very minute it was proposed to me » states Donovan George. The boxer still have an administrative suspension on his fightfax. InterBox is working along with the RACJ to resolve the issue.
Multi-bout agreement between Jean Pascal and InterBox The multi-bout agreement was concluded for 4 bouts. This signing, according to Jean Bedard, « will place Pascal in a better position with regards to high profile fight opportunities in the future ».
