COMERIO, PUERTO RICO - Kevin Nieves did not disappoint his audience on Saturday night as the star in the card presented in the Municipal Auditorium of Comerio. Fighting at 135 pounds, Nieves scored a knockout in the first minute of the third round over Mikito Soto (now 12-7, 12 KOs) to improve to 9-1-1 and five knockouts in a fight scheduled for a maximum of eight rounds.

Miguel Cotto Promotions promoted the card in association with Roc Nation, H2 Entertainment and Sports.

"We had a full house," said promoter Hector Soto. "Here they fit 1,853 and everything was filled and the show was good."

In the co-feature, Bayamon's Orlandito Del Valle (now 20-2, 15 KOs) won by TKO in the third round over Mexico's Juan Jose Beltran (now 29-33-3, 13) in a fight agreed at 136-pounds. Beltran, whom Del Valle had knocked out in four rounds two years ago, did not come out to fight in the third round of a scheduled eight rounder.

"It was a comfortable fight," said Emilio Lozada, coach Del Valle. "Actually the boy did not have much and Orlandito gave him a couple of good shots."

Meanwhile, in his pro debut Magdiel Cotto pleasantly impressed the home crowd by scoring an impressive knockout in the second round of a middleweight bout against Fernando Salamán (now 0-2). Magdiel, a former amateur national champion and squad member who represented Puerto Rico in the Pan American Games in Toronto, dropped his opponent twice in the first round and he did not come to fight the second round.
