Nikita Tszyu (1-0, 1 KO), the youngest son of boxing great Kostya Tszyu, left a big impression in his pro debut.
At the Nissan Arena in Nathan, the 24-year-old Tszyu beat down Aaron Stahl for a two round stoppage win.
Tszyu had older brother, top junior middleweight contender Tim Tszyu, in his corner.
Former world champion Jeff Horn, who was watching from ringside, was impressed.
“Watching him in that fight, I could see his brother, I could see his eyes and the way he’s looking at his opponent and just hunting him down, and that’s their mentality to just hunt and kill,” Horn said to Fox Sports.
“He looked very strong and he was controlling the center of the ring and pushing Stahl onto the ropes and that’s something that you don’t want to be against a Tszyu - those body shots are killers.”
Australian boxing great, Jeff Fenech, also showered the younger Tszyu with praise.
“I thought what was great about it was that he punched to the body, as well as the head, he had great variation,” Fenech said. "He had a great eye and look, he’s got great power, look at the damage that he’s done in two rounds.
“He looks big, he’s strong. He’s got everything. All he’s got to do now is be patient, take it one fight at a time, one step at a time, and he’ll climb the ladder.”
Also in action on the card, world title challenger Dennis Hogan (29-4, 8 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Wade Ryan (20-9, 7 KOs) in an IBO super welterweight eliminator. The scores were 116-111, 117-110 and 120-108.
In a featherweight rematch, Liam Wilson (10-1, 7 KOs) scored a second round knockout of top rated Joe Noynay (19-3-2, 8 KOs). Last year, Noynay put away Wilson in five rounds.
Australian super lightweight Steve Spark (13-2, 12 KOs) stopped River Daz (3-1-1, 1 KO) in the sixth.
Super welterweight prospect Danilo Creati (7-0, 1 KO) outboxed 2012 Olympian Cameron Hammond (18-2, 9 KOs) over eight rounds. The scores were 79-71, 78-73 and 79-71.
